"The volume focuses on the growing concern of academia for rural environmental management. The volume throws light on issues associated with rural areas in rapidly changing economy, highlighting potential synergies and conflicts between competing and conflicting goals.
The volume highlights complex socio-economic processes in rural areas resulting in inadequate development, which are said to be the cause of environmental degradation. Although considerable efforts and various strategies through different programmes for sustainable rural development have been formulated. But it needs to shift in focus, approach and design of intervention and organizational framework.
The volume consists of 16 articles from eminent researchers working on rural area management. The research articles are empirical studies conducted in different rural areas projecting factual status of rural environment and its management.
