The works contain the past scenario of the “Bhikkhuni Samha” in India and other relevant picture “Bhikkhuni Samgha and Community” of in different societies since its introduction back more than 2500 years. Buddhist Studies, also known as Buddhology, is the academic study of Buddhism. The term applies especially to the modern academic field, which is a subset of religious and philosophical studies. Thus, scholars of Buddhist studies represent a variety of disciplines including history, anthropology, hagiography and philosophy. The book contains a number of thirty-one selected valuable articles in bi-language which were presented during the last international seminar organized by the centre for Buddhist Studies, Bhasha-Bhavana, Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan in collaboration with the Department of Indo-Tibetan Studies, Visva-Bharati in February, 2014 in which more than thirty forty scholars from outside of the university and even from abroad including the scholars from within the university participated. The entire articles specially focus on the background significance and role of “Bhikkhuni Samgha” for the upliftment of the society.
