The study begins with a short survey of the rise and fall of Buddhism in India, followed by a comprehensive survey of rediscovery of Buddhist Sites and Shrines in India. The next five chapters probe the contribution to the Buddhist Revival Movement in India by Anagarika Dharmapala of Sri Lanka, Ven. Kripasaran of Chittagong, Ven. U Chandramani of Burma, Ven. The chapters 9-11 indicate the present position of the Bhikkhu Sangha, Vipassana Meditation and Buddhist Studies in India. In the 12th chapter are listed Buddhist publications published in India in English and Hindi during the last 100 years from 1908 to 2008. The story of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetans, who were forced to flee to India following the brutal invasion of Tibet by the Chinese Army in March 1959, is told in the 13 chapter. And the 14 chapter sums up the present status of Buddhism and Buddhists in India." (jacket)
